In three words I can sum up everything I've learned about life: it goes on. -Robert Frost

The holiday’s flew by rather quickly, perhaps it has something to do with the fact that I had to work every day except Christmas and New Year’s day and I didn’t have much time to do anything else. I already miss college and the month off for winter break :tear: It’s all part of growing up, I suppose. My family went out for dinner on Christmas day because none of us wanted to cook, my mom’s side of the family joined us. It was nice because I hadn’t seen my grandmother, aunt, uncles and cousins since August. After work on Friday, the day after Christmas, some friends and I gathered at a friend’s place for dinner. That meal was rather delicious… we had red and white wine depending on whether we were eating meat or seafood  The meal included lamb, pork chops, salmon, etc. It was a wonderful evening after a busy day at work.

I hope everyone had a wonderful New Year’s. Despite having to go into work and having to commute home in the middle of a snow storm, I had a very nice New Year’s Eve. A couple of my friends thought it would be fun to go snowboarding around 8 PM  Although the conditions on the slopes would have been pretty sweet due to fresh snow, I decided to stay in because the temperature was going to drop to the single digits and I didn’t want to pay for a lift ticket if I would only get 2 hours on the slopes at most. Those of us who decided not to hit the slopes gathered at my place for the countdown. We had champagne, finger foods and sparkling cider :drunk: Oh, and we didn’t get any fireworks this year because it was too cold and windy. They showed last year’s fireworks on TV instead. I’m glad I didn’t make my way into the city after work. I was considering it but it would not have been worth it without getting to see fireworks.

I was not one of the lucky ones to get time off this week so I had to work the day before and after the holiday. Everyone knows that hospitals are open every day of the year so I didn’t get to do too any exciting things this year… just a lot of eating and socializing :yum: There was a potluck at a friend’s place Wednesday night so I made a trifle the night before and headed over after work. I didn’t know half the people there so it was nice meeting folks. I was up by 8 AM on Thanksgiving morning, I was hoping to sleep in but that’s something I have had trouble doing since my body is used to getting up by 7 AM on a weekday :grumpy: My family celebrated Thanksgiving by having a big feast at my aunt’s place, several of my friends joined us since they have no family in the area to spend time with and I didn’t want anyone to be alone for the holiday. Well, I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! My roommates and I did get a chance to do a little shopping after I got off work yesterday but I didn’t think that there were that many good deals.

My last post was about getting shots and how much I hate them. This is about the other thing I hate most… going to the dentist! Well, one of my wisdom teeth got infected and I started experiencing pain a few weeks ago  I went to the dentist to get it checked out and he recommended getting all 4 of my wisdom teeth extracted at the same time since I would have to get them all out eventually. A couple of my friends had 1 of all 4 of theirs taken out before so I’ve heard stories and I was really nervous before the surgery, which was scheduled and done at the beginning of the week. It didn’t turn out as bad as I expected, I chose to be put to sleep during the procedure. My mom was told that all 4 of my wisdom teeth came out easily and I didn’t need stitches or anything. After the local anesthesia ran out, I did feel pain and discomfort so I’ve been taking ibuprofen for that. The best part is that my face hasn’t swelled up at all and the bleeding stopped today :cheer: I’ve only been eating and drinking clear liquids though… like soup and jello. I haven’t started eating solid foods yet because I don’t want anything to get stuck in the holes and cause infection. Each time I finish eating, I rinse my mouth with salt and water. I was also given this prescription for a mouth wash to use after brushing my teeth each day, it tastes really nasty and the prescription doesn’t say when I can stop using it. It would stink if I had to use up the entire bottle.

I’ve been so terrible about updating this past year, I never thought I would be so busy being out of school and working full-time. Well, a new layout is past due. It’s been a while since I’ve worked with tables so it took me a while to figure it out :starstruck: I took last Monday off and the layout was actually completed that day but I didn’t have time to finish coding it then. Wordpress is also in need of an update but I’m too lazy to do it now  I’m just going to wait until the next version is released to update.

It’s been over 10 years since I had my last vaccination. I had to get a tetanus shot last Friday and it’s still a bit sore :bawl: I hate shots… and going to the dentist. Those are the 2 things I hate most :scared: I don’t mind giving blood. As a matter a fact, I like to watch my blood being drawn. Shots, however… *shivers* I do not look forward to the stinging feeling as the syringe is releasing the vaccine. Anyhow, I definitely won’t be getting the flu shot. Never have, probably never will.
